Do You Need Fertility Apps?

There are fertility apps for that

20230188_sIf only it were that simple. Fertility apps are on the market now and coming later in 2015. They help track ovulation and pinpoint your most fertile days. From Wink’s wireless basal body temperature thermometer to Ovia’s sexual activity and mood monitor, these data collection tools can assist in optimizing natural fertility.

We found a nice roundup of fertility apps and gadgets, and wanted to share them with you here.

For couples with no barriers to getting pregnant, applications such as Glow, KNOWHEN, Clue and Daysy can help take the guesswork out of finding your fertile window each month. The Texas Fertility Center staff likes the emphasis on daily health tips and wellness strategies.

You can never have too much encouragement to maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle!

Before you add these apps to your holiday wish list, though, keep in mind that you can obtain the same information from over-the-counter ovulation predictor kits and by paying attention to menstrual cycle patterns and cervical mucus consistency. The American Society for Reproductive Medicine provides this useful fact sheet on optimizing natural fertility

Also, remember that one-third of all cases of infertility have male factors as the root cause, and so even if the woman is ovulating, pregnancy may not occur without a proactive fertility treatment plan.

At Texas Fertility Center, we treat a disease that reduces or inhibits natural conception. Before couples see one of our fertility specialists (reproductive endocrinologists), often times they know

  • When her ovulation occurs
  • Have noticed that she does not ovulate at all, or irregularly
  • Have tried for months to time intercourse with ovulation in attempts to get pregnant

Intervention to induce ovulation with medication and/or IUI has helped bring more than 25,000 babies into the world at TFC.

So you know: Most couples will get pregnant within a year. Predicting when you ovulate and having sex on those days will boost the odds for conception. If you have been trying longer than a year, or six months for women over 35, skip the app and contact a fertility expert at TFC.
