TFC presents research at ASRM 2017

TFC presents research at ASRM 2017Texas Fertility Center is famous for its groundbreaking research in the field of reproductive medicine. To help other fertility specialists learn to better diagnose and treat infertility, our Austin fertility center is presenting five research studies at ASRM 2017 in San Antonio.

An overview of the research for ASRM 2017

Though many fertility specialists attend ASRM to learn more about new developments in the field, physicians from our Austin fertility center will be at ASRM 2017 to share their own research. Our fertility specialists are leaders in the field, sharing five studies at the event.

  • One study looked at 85 women between the ages of 27 and 51 who underwent medicated frozen embryo transfer (FET) cycles. Women who underwent a transfer on the seventh day of progesterone in medicated FET cycles had higher pregnancy rates.
  • Another study looked at 3,370 blastocysts that looked to be suitable for fresh embryo transfer, freezing or genetic testing. The study found that usable blastocysts from zygotes with abnormal pronuclear (0PN) formation can become chromosomally normal embryos, although there is still a high possibility that embryos will have chromosomal abnormalities.
  • A third study sought to determine the timing of the luteal-placental shift using pregnancies from FET cycles. The results of the study suggest that the luteal-placental shift occurs at around seven weeks’ gestation.
  • A study of embryo culturing was designed to determine whether culturing embryos to Day 7 improves IVF cycle outcomes. Although the data was limited, culturing embryos to Day 7 appears to result in more viable pregnancies.
  • The final study reviewed the initial results of Next Generation Screening for embryos. The findings showed that Next Generation Screening identified embryos that were more likely to implant and produce a live birth than embryos selected by their morphology.
