What is your Austin fertility doctor reading this summer? The Textbook of Assisted Reproductive Techniques

What is your Austin Fertility Doctor Reading This SummerWhile Goodreads lists among its most popular new releases The Break Down by B. A. Paris, Stillhouse Lake by Rachel Caine and The Life She Was Given by Ellen Marie Wiseman, we have non-fiction on our must-read list at our Austin fertility center. However, we’re also exploring “Textbook of Assisted Reproductive Techniques.”

Our medical director and Austin fertility doctor, Kaylen Silverberg, M.D., is the author of one of the key chapters in the new “Textbook of Assisted Reproductive Techniques”. Dr. Silverberg has helped co-author this book, which is the “gold standard” of IVF textbooks, since he was first asked to do so by the book’s editor, Dr. David Gardner. The latest copy, the fifth Edition, should be released this Fall. According to the publisher, the purpose of the book is to present “methods, protocols, and techniques of choice by eminent international experts in the field of Assisted Reproductive Technology”.

While it may not make it in the beach bag, nearly all reproductive endocrinologists own a copy of this textbook, and reference it often as a go-to instructional and research guide. There are two volumes: one addresses clinical care and the other covers IVF lab practices.

The textbook of Assisted Reproductive Techniques is very popular. According to our Austin fertility doctor, “It is probably the most widely read book in IVF.”

Our summer travel includes an IVF nurses conference

When it’s time to update the people devoted to reproductive medicine – the physicians, nurses, embryologists, and lab teams – you can bet that the staff at our Austin fertility center has been asked to lead the conversation. Experts like Dr. Silverberg devote time to publishing, performing clinical research, and teaching courses around the world to share their latest findings with their peers in the ever-changing field of reproductive endocrinology.

In fact, Dr. Silverberg is getting ready to travel to a medical conference held every August to deliver talks on the latest breakthroughs in IVF and IUI. Every summer, he delivers presentations to hundreds of nurses from all across the United States about what’s new in:

  • Ovarian stimulation
  • Stimulating the poor responder
  • Next-generation sequencing
  • Optimizing the uterine environment prior to embryo transfer
  • Interpreting test results, and
  • Third-party reproduction

Proud of the Textbook of Assisted Reproductive Techniques

As always, our San Antonio, Round Rock and Austin fertility center team remains engaged in the global conversation about best practices for helping men and women start families despite reproductive challenges. We are proud of Dr. Silverberg for his latest contribution, and of all of our physicians, Drs. Vaughn, Hansard, PetriniPropst and Munch, for their efforts to share information, empower colleagues and conduct research.
