Voted 2014 Best Fertility Doctors in Austin, again!
While we have local peers to thank for awards such as Austin Monthly Magazine’s Best Doctors, physicians nationwide selected TFC for this particular honor. The 2014 Best Doctors in America® list recognized four physicians from our Austin Fertility Center: Thomas Vaughn, Kaylen Silverberg, Lisa Hansard and Natalie Burger.
We were the only board certified fertility physicians in Austin named to the reproductive endocrinology/infertility category.
The annual recognition begins with a question posed to over 45,000 U.S. doctors. “If you or a loved one needed a doctor in your specialty, to whom would you refer?”
It is nice to know that a medical professional would place his or her fertility in our hands. That’s how Nicole Hall found us. An Austin ObGyn referred Nicole to TFC and Dr. Burger. You may have seen her touching Mother’s Day story on Austin’s KVUE.
After 30 years in Austin, TFC doctors have received many awards and accolades, but referrals from former patients are by far the most meaningful.
How do you choose a fertility specialist?
The best resource for researching doctors is close to home. We always recommend speaking with friends and family who have undergone infertility treatment. Thanks to a referral, Chris and Mandy Condit found TFC and added two children to their family. “After trying unsuccessfully to get pregnant for almost a year, we had some good friends recommend that we explore treatment at TFC,” said Chris Condit.
Vet the net
Vetted, validated online sources can also help assess a doctor’s reputation and skill set. The 2014 Best Doctors in America® list, for example, is assembled by Best Doctors, Inc. and audited and certified by Gallup®. Doctors in over 40 specialties and 400 sub-specialties of medicine appear on this year’s list.

Check the CV
Your fertility specialist’s curriculum vitae will reveal a lot about research interests, and the hospital where they performed a residency. Those early years of on-the-job training can positively influence a doctor’s clinical pursuits and academic passions.

Once you do land on a fertility center and meet with a board certified reproductive endocrinologist, ask about treatment options, projected success rates and care philosophy. The right physician can make a world of difference during the fertility treatment process. It’s nice to know your fertility specialist has been named to the Best Doctors in America® list, but even better when you have found the best doctor for you.
