Fertility Treatments for Single Women

Fertility treatments for single women make motherhood possible

More women are embracing single motherhood, and our Austin fertility center is here to help. Women wanting to start or grow their family can find fertility treatments for single women at Texas Fertility Center. With help from donor sperm and treatments like IUI and IVF, a single woman can welcome a healthy baby into the world.

There are options when it comes to fertility treatments for single women

Women considering single motherhood can find the help and support they need at our Austin fertility center. Anyone who is ready to be a parent should be able to raise a child, regardless of their marital status. Here are some fertility treatments for single women that make parenthood possible.

  • Intrauterine insemination (IUI) with donor sperm is a basic fertility treatment. After a woman selects a sperm donor, one of our doctors will use a catheter to insert the washed and prepared sperm into her uterus. This procedure will occur around the time she is ovulating. A woman can take fertility medications with IUI or do a natural, unmedicated cycle, depending on her fertility needs.
  • In vitro fertilization (IVF) with donor sperm is a more advanced procedure. The woman will take medications to help her ovaries produce multiple eggs. She will then visit our Austin fertility center for an outpatient egg retrieval procedure. After that, our embryologists will fertilize her eggs with donor sperm. They can also perform preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) to screen for chromosomal abnormalities. One of our doctors will transfer one healthy embryo to the woman’s uterus to achieve pregnancy.

Selecting a sperm donor to achieve single motherhood

All fertility treatments for single women require a sperm donor. A woman can either use an anonymous donor through a sperm bank or a known donor. With either option, the donor’s sperm must be tested and quarantined for at least six months before using it. Many women decide to work with a sperm bank because the donor sperm there has already undergone testing and quarantine.

When selecting a donor from a sperm bank, a woman can view profiles for each donor. These profiles include information about the donor’s medical history, education, appearance, hobbies and interests. This information makes it easier for a woman to select the right donor for her.
