Dr. Kaylen Silverberg Featured in The Washington Post Advocating for IVF Insurance Coverage

We’re proud to share that Kaylen Silverberg, MD, reproductive endocrinologist at Texas Fertility Center, was recently featured in a Washington Post article discussing the status of IVF insurance coverage and federal policy proposals aimed at making fertility care more accessible and affordable for families across the United States.

As one of the nation’s leading voices in fertility medicine, Dr. Silverberg has been lobbying on behalf of our patients for 25 years, advocating for policies that support individuals and couples struggling to conceive. In addition to his responsibilities here at TFC, he plays several active roles at the state and national level, providing accurate clinical and scientific information and recommendations to inform policy related to reproductive health care.

  • Chairman of the advisory board of Americans for IVF, a national body developed to educate and work with the United States Congress to ensure both legal protections for IVF and expanded access to IVF and fertility treatment
  • Advisor to the White House Domestic Policy Council on the subject of improving access to fertility treatment and IVF for infertile patients
  • Advisor to Texas’s U.S. congressional delegation, including Michael McCaul, Chip Roy, John Carter and Pete Sessions
  • Member of the advisory board of Progyny, a company that provides workforce benefits supporting women’s health and family building

Advocating for expanded IVF insurance coverage

In his conversation with The Washington Post, Dr. Kaylen Silverberg notes that White House officials have contacted him repeatedly in recent weeks to answer questions, and that he met with Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and Domestic Policy Council Director Vince Haley at the White House in April.

In these conversations, Dr. Silverberg has provided factual information and insight into how legislative changes — such as expanded IVF insurance coverage — could improve access to care, particularly for patients who have historically faced financial barriers. He has also explained the facts about the existing role of “restorative reproductive medicine” as a supportive component of fertility treatment that cannot replace the effectiveness of IVF in helping people conceive.

Advocating for the best fertility care for every patient

At Texas Fertility Center, we believe every person deserves the opportunity to build a family. Dr. Silverberg’s work with policymakers reflects our continued commitment to improving access, affordability and education around fertility care. As legislation continues to evolve, we’ll be following closely and sharing updates about how these changes may affect our patients.
