Dr. Kaylen Silverberg shares good news that IVF Drug Costs Could Drop After New Government Agreement

Dr. Kaylen Silverberg spoke with Austin American-Statesman about his work with the White House to reduce the cost of IVF Medications and treatment for families trying to conceive.  Families pursuing in-vitro fertilization (IVF) may soon see significant savings, thanks to a new agreement between the U.S. government and drug manufacturer EMD Serono, the American arm of Germany’s Merck. The company has committed to lowering the price of its leading IVF medications as part of a federal initiative to make fertility treatments more affordable and accessible.

Under this plan, the average cost of IVF medications could fall from around $5,000 per cycle to about $3,000, according to Dr. Kaylen Silverberg of the Texas Fertility Center. Silverberg, a long-time advocate for improving access to fertility care, noted that this price drop could benefit both insured and uninsured patients.  Dr. Silverberg emphasized that while this is a major step forward, continued collaboration between government, industry, and healthcare providers will be essential to ensure IVF becomes more affordable.
