Your Austin Fertility Team Goes Global at ASRM

Preparing for 2014 ASRM

The Texas Fertility Center doctors in Austin, Round Rock and San Antonio work together to resolve pregnancy difficulties for our patients. We collaborate with other fertility specialists around the U.S. and other countries to further the science of reproductive medicine. For this reason, we attend the annual meeting of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) every year. They are especially excited for 2014 ASRM.

tinyprogramThis year’s ASRM annual meeting takes place in Hawaii, and the theme is “Surfing the Waves of Change.” We will contribute to the conversation about effective trends in fertility treatments, including exciting new protocols related to cryopreservation and genetic testing.

If you would like to stay current on the latest news from ASRM, join the Twitter conversation at #2014ASRM. TFC will report from the conference here on this blog, and on our Facebook page.

The ASRM Itinerary for TFC

In addition to participating in lectures, oral and poster presentations, and learning about new technology and clinical care resources on exhibit, the fertility specialists at TFC will play an active role at ASRM:

Presenting research. Dr. Kaylen Silverberg and his colleagues conducted a study on genetic screening and will report the results at ASRM. They recommend that fertility centers offer next-generation DNA sequencing (NGS), screening all patients for genetic disorders, regardless of ethnicity. The current practice is to tailor testing to specific ethnicities based on risk factors.

Assuming leadership roles. Dr. Silverberg was elected to the board of directors for the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technologies (SART) and will assume duties at the 2014 ASRM annual meeting. Read more here about his new post.

Continuing education. Did you know that a doctor continues his/her medical education throughout a lifetime? Board certification with the American Board of OB/GYN requires that a physician earn a certain number of hours each year in his or her specialty. Our fertility doctors will attend advanced educational courses at ASRM that benefit our patients and fulfill professional requirements.

During our time at ASRM, we will collaborate with fellow fertility specialists around the globe. As always, we share those new insights with you. To partner with a world-renowned physician, contact our Austin, San Antonio or Round Rock fertility center.
