TFC teams up with Komen Race for the Cure
Texas Fertility Center will recruit friends and family and lace up on Nov. 14 for the Komen Race for the Cure Austin.
Here is our pledge to women currently undergoing breast cancer treatment and to the next generation of baby girls:.“We will not stop until this disease is gone forever.”
Why we’re raising for a cure
You may wonder why TFC doctors, nurses and our business office team feel so strongly about raising awareness for breast cancer research, prevention and treatment. We have a stake in the Komen Race for a Cure for many reasons, but following are our top 3:
Our first clinical rotations involved breast health. Our reproductive endocrinologists each earned board certification in obstetrics and gynecology, transitioning to clinical practice as fertility specialists. Serving women as obgyns reinforces the importance of early detection and regular self breast exams.[break][break]
We’re women’s health advocates. The physicians and founders of Texas Fertility Center regularly testify before Congress about issues that impact reproductive health, access to care and the cost of medical treatment in this country.[break][break]
Like you, we are personally impacted by breast cancer. We have mothers, grandmothers, sisters, aunts and friends who have faced a breast cancer diagnosis. With early detection at Stage 1, the cure rate is nearly 100%, so we can make a difference emphasizing education and awareness.*
The goal for the day’s Race for the Cure™ Austin event is $1 million. When a lot of people give a little, the Austin community can make it possible to achieve this big dream. That’s why Team TFC invites you to support the race as an individual, as part of a team like Team TFC or with your gift to Links of Love. (New this year: Links of Love allows you to dedicate a link on a pink paper chain to recognize a special person in your life.)
If you would like to join Team TFC for this year’s Race for the Cure™ Austin, contact us here. Our race team leader, Wendy Blocker, will pass along the details and meet you at the starting line!
