White House IVF Plans Complicated by Alternative Fertility Approach

A recent NBC News article explores how the White House’s initiative to broaden IVF access has hit a roadblock—not from political opposition in Congress, but from a growing interest in a lesser-known method called restorative reproductive medicine (RRM). This approach focuses on treating underlying health issues before pursuing IVF.

Dr. Kaylen Silverberg, chair of Americans for IVF’s advisory board and a leading fertility specialist, noted that restorative health practices are already an integral part of modern fertility care. He explained that RRM is simply a new label for steps fertility specialists already take—and that focusing on it as a separate concept is a distraction from making meaningful progress on IVF access.

The article also reported that White House representative Kush Desai said the administration is still working on its plans for expanding IVF access.
