An egg donor cycle makes the dream of parenthood possible for Cindy and Gian

Cindy and Gian’s journey to conceive got off to a rocky start in Florida. However, it happily ended in Texas with a beautiful baby girl named Gianna. It was all thanks to an egg donor cycle at Texas Fertility Center (TFC) and the couple’s persistence on the path to parenthood.

The journey to conceive gets off to a difficult start before finding TFC

Before moving to Austin, Cindy and Gian went to see a fertility doctor in Florida. However, the experience wasn’t what the couple expected.

According to Cindy, “I was 38 at the time, and we have a 16-year age difference. My answers to questions about our ages and relationship were met with multiple eyebrow raises. The attitude of their responses made me uneasy. At that time, I let that negativity stop me from going forward.”

A few years later, the couple moved to Austin “with the dream of a family” still in their hearts. Cindy’s new OBGYN tried to discourage the couple from moving forward with fertility testing, but it didn’t work.

“I wouldn’t stand for that behavior this time, so I went to the front desk and requested that my medical records be sent elsewhere,” Cindy says.

While searching for a local fertility doctor, Cindy found our Austin fertility center by chance. The decision to visit TFC would make all the difference in the couple’s journey to conceive.

Bringing home a baby with help from TFC and an egg donor cycle

From the first appointment with Dr. Thomas Vaughn, Cindy could sense that she was in the right place. “This meeting was so very different. I went alone, not sure what to expect. However, Dr. Vaughn never flinched about our ages or age difference, and he explained everything with kindness,” she says.

Going forward, the couple underwent several fertility tests, including an HSG and minor surgery on Cindy’s uterus. According to Cindy, “The tests brought us together during the process, and our excitement grew with every step we crossed off the list.”

Based on Cindy’s age and family history, Dr. Vaughn recommended an egg donor cycle, and the couple agreed. “I felt this was the best decision for our family and couldn’t be happier about my choice,” Cindy says.

A cycle of IVF with donor eggs resulted in a healthy pregnancy for Cindy and Gian. “My pregnancy progressed normally with all the things you would expect,” Cindy says. “Before I knew it, our family dream became a reality with the birth of Gianna.”

Encouraging other hopeful parents to do what feels right for them

Cindy and Gian want other hopeful parents to know that they have options. They also want to encourage them to stand up and pursue what feels right to them.

“There are so many ways to make your family a reality in this day and age. Do what you feel is right for your situation,” Cindy says. “I could have easily given up and made assumptions about the possibilities. Instead, I kept pushing to get facts and fair treatment.”

The couple also highly recommends our Austin fertility center. “I can never thank all the nurses and staff enough for their fantastic care. They always went above and beyond,” Cindy says. “I also really appreciated the exceptional compassion of Dr. Vaughn. When I told other people who I was seeing at TFC, a nurse I work with said, ‘Wow! You went straight for the top!’”
