Welcoming a bundle of joy required Lauren and Brian to move from IUI to IVF

Lauren and Brian knew they wanted to have children, but the process was not as straightforward as they had anticipated.
When the couple didn’t get pregnant on their own, Lauren made an appointment with her OBGYN. After fertility medications alone didn’t result in pregnancy, Lauren’s doctor suggested Texas Fertility Center (TFC).
It turns out this recommendation, and the later decision to move from IUI to IVF, would be life-changing.
Starting the journey to conceive with an OBGYN before turning to TFC

Once the couple realized they needed a little extra help to conceive, Lauren went to her OBGYN. He prescribed a fertility medication called Clomid, and Lauren visited him every month.
Unfortunately, Clomid alone wasn’t enough to make the couple’s dream of parenthood come true. The good news is her OBGYN knew which doctors could.
“He recommended that I move to a fertility clinic,” Lauren explains. “My OBGYN specifically recommended Dr. Hansard.”
With this advice, the couple made an appointment at our Austin fertility center.
Beginning the treatment process and making the move from IUI to IVF

Dr. Lisa Hansard worked with the couple to create a fertility treatment plan. Before diving into in vitro fertilization (IVF), the couple decided to try intrauterine insemination (IUI). However, this treatment wouldn’t be the one to help bring home a baby.
After Lauren and Brian had unsuccessful IUI cycles, they decided to move from IUI to IVF. It turned out this would make all the difference in their journey to conceive.
Lauren underwent both an egg retrieval and an embryo transfer in 2023. She also had endometrial receptivity testing to ensure that the transfer happened at the perfect time.
The couple was thrilled to learn that their first IVF transfer was a success. Nine months later, after “a great pregnancy,” Lauren delivered a healthy baby boy named Luke.
Ready to grow their family again, the couple just did another round of IVF in hopes of having “more babies.”
Advice and guidance for hopeful parents like Lauren and Brian

When asked what advice she would give to other hopeful parents, Lauren stressed patience and positivity.
“Being patient is important. When I began the process, I didn’t realize how long it would take with all the testing and IUI before moving to IVF,” Lauren explains. “Additionally, it’s important to stay positive and try not to stress. IVF can be emotional, but it’s all worth it in the end.”
After making her move to a fertility clinic, she also highly recommends our Austin fertility center and Dr. Hansard.
According to Lauren, “Dr. Hansard is honest and straightforward, which I appreciate. She’s knowledgeable and trustworthy. The nurses, Malorie and Beth, are great too! They’ll go into detail if needed and always get back to you.” If you want to see how Texas Fertility Center can help you bring home a baby, contact us to schedule an appointment.
