Texas Fertility Center Offers Complimentary Egg Freezing Seminars

Learn more about egg freezing at monthly seminars in Austin and San Antonio

March 15, 2016 – In response to the growing trend and curiosity among women in their late 20s and early 30s, Texas Fertility Center announces its next two egg freezing seminars – March 5th and May 7th at 2 pm CST.

Egg freezing is a process where a mature egg, retrieved from the ovary after hormone stimulation, is frozen for a woman’s later use.

Women who want to take control of their future fertility and wish to take advantage of egg freezing technology must select a physician or fertility center to manage the process. Many fertility clinics advertise that they offer egg freezing, but Texas Fertility Center advises women to inquire about whether they have had live births as a result of eggs that have been frozen at their clinic.

According to Dr. Natalie Burger of Texas Fertility Center, “Egg freezing has been proven to be an effective reproductive technology. Our Austin fertility center reported its first live birth from egg freezing in July 2011, before other Central Texas fertility clinics had even started freezing eggs.  Since that time, over 50 healthy babies have been born from eggs that were frozen in our IVF laboratory.”

Many women want to freeze their eggs because the time may not be right to start a family, they are concerned about their advancing age, or because they have a medical condition (or require treatment) that will significantly impair their future fertility. Since 2015, Texas Fertility Center has offered monthly seminars to educate women about fertility preservation through egg freezing.

The location of the seminars rotates each month between TFC offices in Austin and San Antonio. The informational sessions are casual, and women have the opportunity to learn more about egg freezing in a professional and intimate small group setting.

The goal of the seminars is to raise awareness about egg freezing as an option available to women to preserve future fertility. They address questions such as, ‘What exactly is egg freezing?, Is it appropriate for me? Can I afford it?’ Egg freezing works best for women in their 20s and early 30s when a woman’s eggs are the highest quality and are still present in sufficient quantity. Texas Fertility Center employs ultra-rapid cooling for egg freezing using a technology called vitrification. This both protects the egg and increases the likelihood of a successful future pregnancy.

Egg freezing on the rise

Women want to preserve their fertility for a wide variety of reasons, and egg freezing makes it possible. In 2012, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, ASRM, announced that egg freezing was no longer considered experimental, and the use of this procedure has been on the rise ever since.
