Texas Fertility Center Opens New IVF Lab and Surgery Center in San Antonio

San Antonio IVF Clinic Builds on a 30-Year Tradition of Successful Pregnancies

SONY DSCAustin, Texas – April 29, 2014 – Texas Fertility Center is pleased to announce the expansion of its San Antonio fertility clinic with the opening of a new embryology lab for in vitro fertilization and fertility surgery. The new facility is located at 18707 Hardy Oak Blvd, in the fast-growing Stone Oak neighborhood.

”For years, Texas Fertility Center specialists have welcomed San Antonio and South Texas patients to our Austin and Round Rock clinics,” said Dr. Kaylen Silverberg, a board certified Reproductive Endocrinologist who directs clinical care in the TFC-San Antonio fertility clinic. “Now we can bring 30 years of expertise and fertility success to San Antonio residents seeking solutions for their fertility challenges in their own home town.”

The newest full-service Texas Fertility Center location will offer highly specialized fertility services, including in vitro fertilization (IVF), pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), gamete micromanipulation, and oocyte and embryo vitrification (freezing). The state of the art San Antonio IVF laboratory is modeled after the nationally recognized Austin IVF lab.

When Texas Fertility Center opened its doors in 1986, IVF was a new technology. Watch here to see how IVF has evolved at Texas Fertility Center:

New Treatments Bring New Hope

The San Antonio IVF lab provides patients access to the latest in fertility assistance, treatments and technologies. These services include embryologist-directed laboratory procedures such as in vitro fertilization IVF, as well as new innovations in genetic testing and diagnostic services.

Advanced Andrology Services Address Male Infertility

As half of all cases of infertility involve male factors, Dr. Silverberg may recommend one or more of the following IVF lab services:

  • Semen analysis to evaluate the quality and quantity of sperm
  • Antisperm antibody testing to treat often unsuspected abnormalities that can inhibit or prevent fertilization
  • Intracytoplasmic sperm injection, also known as ICSI, to give conception a boost by injecting sperm directly into an egg for couples with severe male factor
  • Laser-assisted hatching to make it easier for an embryo to attach to the uterine wall
  • Semen washing, done in preparation for intrauterine insemination in order to increase the likelihood of fertilization and pregnancy
  • Donor gamete treatments to enable men with no or very low sperm counts and women with few or very poor quality eggs to still conceive a healthy child

Fertility Preservation Provides a Safety Net

For women who aren’t ready to start or add to their families now – but want to make sure that they have the option later – the San Antonio IVF Lab and Surgery Center now offers fertility preservation. Through a specialized technique that safely freezes eggs retrieved from a woman’s ovaries, women can stop the biological clock while their eggs are still good quality. Once they are ready to start trying for pregnancy, the eggs can be thawed and used in future IVF treatment.

Genetic Testing Gives Parents Vital Information

Through highly specialized laboratory services, San Antonio couples now have the option of genetic diagnosis and screening of embryos prior to their transfer in an IVF cycle. Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) removes one or more cells from the embryo to check for genetic or chromosomal abnormalities. PGD increases the likelihood of transferring chromosomally normal embryos during IVF and can relieve future parents of the concern of passing on genetic defects – such as Sickle Cell anemia, Tay Sachs, spinal muscular atrophy, and many other conditions – to the next generation.

Happy Parents, Healthy Babies

With the opening of the new San Antonio Embryology Lab for In Vitro Fertilization and Fertility Surgery, Texas Fertility Center offers renewed hope to San Antonio couples experiencing infertility, as well as for single and same-sex residents hoping to start families on their terms.

“Together with our highly skilled embryologists and laboratory technicians, we are thrilled to help San Antonio and South Texas residents create families,” says Dr. Silverberg. “In keeping with the TFC tradition, we combine experience, individualized treatment plans, and the very latest fertility innovations and IVF techniques to achieve an outstanding level of success.”
