Meet Dr. Allison Petrini

Dr. Allison Petrini returns home to join Texas Fertility Center

Joining Texas Fertility Center as an Austin fertility doctor is a homecoming for Dr. Allison Petrini in more ways than one. “Coming back to Texas was an easy decision. I grew up in Sugar Land and went to UT where I met my husband. We’re double Longhorns,” she explains. “During medical school, I completed a clinical rotation at TFC, where my now colleagues became my mentors. It was always my goal to move back to Texas and join them at TFC.”

Moving to New York City allowed Dr. Petrini to receive world-class training

After graduating from medical school at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Dr. Petrini decided to complete her training at Cornell. “My mentors at TFC guided me to Cornell as the premier academic training institution in treating infertility,” she explains.

A residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York-Presbyterian Hospital through Weill Cornell Medical College solidified her decision to pursue further training in reproductive medicine. “It was evident that this is a life-changing field, which actively progresses science and directly helps patients,” Dr. Allison Petrini says. “I also saw what meaningful relationships I could form with my patients.”

In her final step to become an Austin fertility doctor, she completed her Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility fellowship at the Ronald O. Perelman and Claudia Cohen Center for Reproductive Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College. “It was an honor to be trained by some of the pioneers and original innovators in the field,” she explains.

Being a fertility doctor is an honor for Dr. Allison Petrini

In Dr. Petrini’s eyes, nothing is better than being an Austin fertility doctor. “It’s a dream job because you get to be a part of this personal and meaningful journey for patients. You’re helping them have a baby and create a family. I can’t think of anything that’s more rewarding.”

As a physician, Dr. Allison Petrini believes that every patient is unique and deserves to be treated that way. “I don’t believe in taking a cookie cutter approach to fertility care,” she says. “I’m not just treating a patient’s infertility diagnosis. I’m also thinking about her and her partner’s family-building goals, and the financial and emotional underpinnings of the journey.”

Dr. Petrini’s personalized approach to reproductive medicine is furthered by her own struggle with infertility. “I’ve been through this myself, so I understand the nuance of decision making and the emotional toll,” she explains.
