Meet Dr. Amy Schutt

Get to know Dr. Amy Schutt and learn why she loves being a fertility doctor

Dr. Amy Schutt believes that nothing is more important than family, and she knows that her patients feel this way too. That’s why it can be so devastating when they learn that they aren’t able to conceive naturally. Dr. Schutt became an Austin fertility doctor to provide her patients with hope and the ability to have the family of their dreams.

“Everyone should have the opportunity to have a family, but fertility issues can sometimes get in the way. Thankfully, reproductive medicine has come a long way, so there are many different treatments that I can provide that can help make parenthood possible.”

A look at her impressive background

This Austin fertility doctor graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts in biology. She then attended medical school at the Texas Tech University School of Medicine. There, she was elected to AOA (Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society). Dr. Amy Schutt completed an internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Virginia Health System, where she served as chief resident.

Because Dr. Schutt knew that she wanted to become a fertility specialist, she completed a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Baylor College of Medicine. She also earned her Master of Science in clinical investigation from the university.

Since graduating, Dr. Schutt has received several awards for her work as a fertility doctor, including being named a Texas Super Doctors Rising Star and being named one of the Top Doctors in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility by Houstonia Magazine.

After fellowship, Dr. Schutt remained on faculty for six years at Baylor College of Medicine where she helped hundreds of patients build their families. She was active in medical education, most recently serving as REI fellowship program director. Her leadership roles also included councilor of Baylor College of Medicine Chapter of AOA. In that role, she advocated for professionalism in medicine. This wealth of experience makes Dr. Schutt an excellent addition to Texas Fertility Center and to the Austin community.

She is also a member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and the Texas Medical Association.

Dr. Amy Schutt has the knowledge and skill to treat the complex causes of infertility

Thanks to her comprehensive training and experience in the field, Dr. Schutt can diagnose and treat the causes of female and male infertility. This Austin fertility doctor also has a special interest in a few areas of reproductive medicine.

“In my practice, I’m passionate about helping patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) manage their health and overcome infertility. In addition, I love working with LGBTQ individuals and couples to help them achieve their family-building goals. Finally, I enjoy working with patients who are interested in fertility preservation options like egg and embryo freezing. I’m proud to help them be proactive about their reproductive futures.”
