How TFC helped Anna and Melody improve the likelihood of getting pregnant

When Anna and Melody were ready to start their family, they looked to at-home artificial insemination with donor sperm. However, they needed a little extra guidance to increase their chances of success. That’s when they first turned to Texas Fertility Center (TFC).

The couple had a consultation to do basic testing and get answers to their questions about the in-home artificial insemination process. With this guidance, they conceived a daughter named Iva. The couple was able to follow the same advice to conceive again later, and on their own, had two more girls named Eden and Kaia.

However, when the couple wanted to have their fourth child, they turned to our Austin fertility center again. As it was taking longer to conceive, the couple wanted to improve their likelihood of getting pregnant.

Working with the TFC team to start (and later grow) their family

Anna and Melody first came to our Austin fertility center seeking information and direction. “We were trying at-home artificial insemination donor sperm and wanted to get testing to confirm there weren’t any issues,” Anna explains.

Testing found no fertility issues, which made sense because the couple conceived on their own three times before. However, the couple still worked with TFC to optimize their fertility for their fourth child.

According to Anna, “People probably wondered why I was going to a fertility clinic if I didn’t have fertility issues, but you don’t have to have an issue to get more information and support.”

The advice about insemination cycle timing was successful for the couple three different times. After having Iva, Eden and Kaia, the couple was ready to have a fourth baby. However, following the same advice didn’t produce the same results.

The couple tried for a year before coming to our Austin fertility center for testing. “I was 40 at that point, so we wanted to get retested to see if anything had changed,” Anna says. “We wanted to get information to realistically assess the likelihood of getting pregnant again, and of course, increase our chances of getting pregnant.”

This time, the couple saw Dr. Amy Schutt. The second round of testing didn’t find anything wrong, but the biological clock was ticking. Dr. Schutt recommended that Anna take Femara shots as part of at-home donor insemination. The plan eventually worked, and the couple welcomed baby Aria in December 2025.
