Focused on Infertility. Committed to the Corps.
Learn more about a fertility medication discount for military families.
Texas Fertility Center (TFC) was founded more than 30 years ago to bring effective and life-changing fertility care to the Central Texas community and beyond. When special circumstances exist, such as those faced by members of our active and retired military, we pursue solutions that put a family within reach.
At TFC, we go the extra mile for our heroes in uniform.
In the general population, 1 in 7 couples will experience infertility. In addition to the routine causes of infertility, our Veterans may also face problems related to injury suffered in the line of duty.
TFC is proud to support two programs introduced by EMD Serono that help provide a significant fertility medication discount for military families.
The Compassionate Care program provides fertility medication discounts for all military families. Active duty, reserve, and retired veterans or their spouses who don’t have insurance for fertility medications can apply for the Compassionate Care Program and receive an automatic discount of at least 25 percent off of the self-pay price of EMD Serono medicines. This discount could rise as high as 75 percent, depending on financial eligibility criteria.
Compassionate Corps, an extension of the pharmaceutical company’s Compassionate Care program, fills the gap for medically retired veterans and their spouses who experience infertility because of a service related injury sustained while on active duty.
With Compassionate Corps, qualifying veterans and their spouses may receive free fertility medication.
Who Qualifies for Compassionate Corps Benefits?
Any medically retired, injured man or woman who served our country in the U.S. Armed Forces and suffers from infertility related to their injury may qualify for the Compassionate Corps program if they do not have private insurance that covers fertility medications.
The program covers fertility medications associated with in vitro fertilization for up to two treatments per year.
Applying for Compassionate Benefits for Fertility Medication Discounts
Our authorization coordinators at TFC can help you handle the application process. You will need to complete a few forms, and your TFC physician will also need to provide some medical information as well. If you are applying for the Compassionate Corps program or Heart for Heroes you will also need a copy of the DD-214 form, if applicable.
You may contact a TFC Affordable Care Specialist via phone or email for more details on the fertility medication discount for military families.

The TFC Commitment to Our Nation’s Veterans
At TFC, we are proud to extend medication discounts to members of the Armed Forces, and we remain committed to expanding fertility coverage for veterans and their spouses. The Compassionate Care and Compassionate Corps programs are two of the resources that our TFC patient advocates will share with you when you choose to partner with our fertility centers in Central Austin, North Austin, Round Rock, South Austin or San Antonio.
The programs and efforts that we support for our military families include:
- The EMD Serono fertility medication discount for military families.
- Discounted fees for TFC physician-provided services (including office visits, ultrasounds, and IUIs)
- Lobbying on behalf of the Family Act of 2013, including ongoing visits with our elected representatives in Washington DC to push this legislation forward. The Family Act would allow members of the military to receive a tax credit for the out-of-pocket costs of IVF and fertility preservation.
- Merck’s First Steps Program offers a 25% discount for military.
- Ferring’s Heart for Heroes offers free medications for qualified service members.
After serving your country, you deserve the right to every opportunity to build a family when you come home.
Texas Fertility Center physicians and staff, including a retired and decorated Air Force Colonel who directs care at our Round Rock clinic, will stand beside you during this next phase of your life of service.
