Texas Fertility Center helped one couple conceive using IVF for unexplained infertility
Cat and Brian have been married for nine years. Four years into their marriage, they decided to start trying for children. They conceived a few months later, but we’re devastated when they miscarried. The couple didn’t know that this would be the beginning of their journey to conceive using IVF for unexplained infertility.
Before they came to our Austin fertility center, Cat and Brian visited a different fertility clinic. However, they did not have a good experience. “We went through all this testing and IUIs, but nothing worked. We were discouraged and felt like we were wasting our money,” Cat recalls.
The couple started thinking that it might not be possible to have a biological child, so Cat began looking into adoption. However, she couldn’t shake her desire to experience pregnancy and have a baby. That’s when her coworker recommended Texas Fertility Center.
Scheduling a consultation and getting started
At first, the couple was reluctant to get started due to the bad experience at the other fertility clinic. However, once they decided to schedule an appointment at our Austin fertility center with Thomas Vaughn MD, the couple didn’t look back.
According to Cat, “When we met with Dr. Vaughn, we told him about our story and how infertility was affecting our relationship. He listened and then gave us options. He explained why IVF was the best option to help us conceive, so we decided to do it.”
After taking medications to stimulate the production of multiple eggs, Cat came in for egg retrieval. The couple only had to do one retrieval as part of IVF for unexplained infertility. “It was successful for us. Dr. Vaughn retrieved lots of eggs and we got six healthy embryos after fertilization,” Cat says.
IVF for unexplained infertility results in two pregnancies
The egg retrieval wasn’t the only success for Cat and Brian. The embryo transfers also went well. The first embryo transfer developed into a healthy pregnancy and the couple gave birth to a little boy named Fitz nine months later. They are now expecting their second child, a little girl that they’ll name Fox.
The couple is so grateful for the positive experience they’ve had with our Austin fertility center and IVF for unexplained infertility. “We had a really positive experience with fertility treatment at TFC. As soon as we started with the team, everything started working,” Cat explains. “We view Dr. Vaughn as a miracle worker. God used him and science to answer our prayers.”
Advice for others struggling with infertility
Cat and Brian understand how difficult it is to experience infertility and miscarriage, so they have advice to share. “It is important to trust your doctor and follow their instructions. Also, try not to overthink each step of the process because that can make it too overwhelming,” Cat says.
She also wants other hopeful parents to know that it often gets a little easier with each embryo transfer. “We were in a rough and desperate place when we did our first transfer because we wanted a baby so badly. It’s amazing to see how different this transfer was because we’re in a different emotional state,” she explains.
