Austin, Texas (February 25, 2020) – For the third year in a row, Texas Fertility Center (TFC) and Ovation Fertility will co-sponsor a grant for a patient and a guest to attend RESOLVE Advocacy Day 2020. The recipient will receive a grant to cover accommodations and airfare to Washington, D.C. for the event on May 20, 2020.
TFC Medical Director Kaylen Silverberg MD will also be attending. As a world-renowned reproductive endocrinologist, he strives to improve accessibility to affordable and effective fertility care. Dr. Silverberg consults with the Central Texas congressional delegation, traveling to Washington D.C. every three months. He also regularly attends Advocacy Day.
“Texas Fertility Center exists to provide accessible and highly effective fertility care. We know how difficult it can be for patients around the country to afford the testing and treatment they need to become parents, so we lobby regularly for increased infertility awareness and insurance coverage,” Dr. Silverberg explains.
The power of RESOLVE Advocacy Day
This annual event allows the infertility community to speak to members of Congress about reproductive care in the United States. Advocacy Day attendees include fertility doctors, community leaders, activists, and most importantly, women and men who have been affected by infertility.
Fertility patients understand the struggles of infertility better than anyone else, which is why it’s important to give them a platform to address members of Congress. As part of RESOLVE Advocacy Day, experienced advocates host workshops to teach attendees how to effectively lobby their congressional delegation.
According to Dr. Silverberg, “Many people would like to attend Advocacy Day. However, they lack the resources to do so. We are proud to help a deserving couple attend this important event on Capitol Hill by co-sponsoring this grant with Ovation Fertility.”
How to apply for the Advocacy Day grant
The grant covers airfare to Washington, D.C., hotel accommodations and incidental expenses for the recipient and a guest. For a chance to win, contestants must submit their fertility story, which they consent to share with the public. Men and women at all stages of the fertility treatment process are encouraged to submit a story.
